Assesor
An Insurance Assessor is a person from your insurance company. Their job is to look at your claim and decide if the damage is covered under your insurance policy, which is explained in your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
-
ATP (Authority to Proceed)
An Authority to Proceed is a document you will be asked to sign. By signing it, you agree to the repair plan (Scope of Works) that will be carried out at your home.
-
Authorised Person
This is either the policyholder or a person chosen by them to speak with the insurer and the repair team during the repair process.
-
Cash Settlement
A Cash Settlement is when your insurer gives you money instead of managing the repair or rebuild for you.
This may happen if you want to do extra work outside the insurance claim, such as renovations, or if the repair cannot go ahead because of your policy or building rules.
If this option is offered, your insurer will give you a Cash Settlement Fact Sheet that explains the details.
-
Claim
A claim is a formal request you make to your insurer after your home has been damaged or you have had a loss. If the event is covered by your policy, the insurer will review your claim and help with repairs or compensation.
-
Coverage
Coverage is what your insurance policy protects you for. It explains what events or types of damage are included under your policy.
-
Estimator
An Estimator is a team member from ARC Projects who visits your home, checks the damage, takes notes and photos, and then prepares a repair plan called a Scope of Works.
-
Insurer
An insurer is the company that provides your insurance policy. They give financial protection for certain events, such as damage to your home or the things inside it.
-
LOOP or Loop Logics
LOOP Logics is the software system ARC Projects uses to help manage your repairs. It also allows us to send you updates and keep in touch with you during the project.
-
Make Safe
A Make Safe is the first work done to protect your home and stop more damage. It usually happens early in the claims process.
For example, this may include removing debris or covering broken parts of your home after a storm. A Make Safe is only a temporary safety step, not the full repair.
-
Policy
A policy is the legal contract between you and your insurer. It explains what your insurance covers and what it does not cover.
-
PDS (Product Disclosure Statement)
A Product Disclosure Statement, or PDS, is a document your insurer gives you. It explains what is included in your policy, what is not included, and any conditions. It also explains what your insurer must do when you make a valid claim.
